Jordie’s Background

Jordie Fischer is a nutrition researcher will a passion for addressing malnutrition, including micronutrient deficiencies, among the world’s most vulnerable. She enjoys spending time outside with her husband, biking, running, hiking, picnicking or relaxing on the beach with friends. She would love to take on more creative hobbies, such as continuing pottery classes and calligraphy. She loves finding unique, spots to eat at and then telling anyone who will listen all about them. She was grateful to meet and spend time with Lydia through a church in Phnom Penh while living in Cambodia for a year during her international nutrition master’s research on anaemia and iron supplementation among women of reproductive age in rural Cambodia. 

Education/ Expertise

Jordie received her master’s in human nutrition at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. She studied nutrition and international development at the University of Guelph in Canada.

Interests, Hobbies and Passions

If there is 1 piece of advice you can give to travellers, what would it be?

Take local transport. Do it. It’s where the locals will be, substantially cheaper, better for the earth, you see more, builds resilience, and you’ll always leave with great stories.
