”Oh, Maldives? Some day…maybe?”
That was the usual response I would give friends whenever they excitingly mention how Maldives is their dream destination for:
– Honeymoon
– Diving
– Bucketlist Item

Not that I didn’t want to visit the Maldives, but I just didn’t see what the hype was all about. I mean, there are so many beach destinations in the world – Seychelles, Bora Bora, Mauritius etc. What’s the fuss about this one place that always slips out from a conversation involving honeymoon beach paradise or perfect dream getaways.
But I have to admit, I was wrong.
Maldives is … stunning, a world of its own.

The minute I hopped onto the seaplane and my eyes got a glimpse of the atolls (islands), accustom to the sheer colours of turquoise, blue, green, sapphire, opal..
I was sold.
It was magical.

(Love sunsets? Read my recount on South Africa as well)
So here’s an introduction into this beach paradise destination to lure you one step closer to visiting it someday.
1. Beautiful Blue Water and White Gorgeous Sand

Be it at a bird’s eye view from the seaplane to your resort or a speedboat ride, you cannot help but be stunned by the brilliant crystal clear Maldivian waters. Its clarity and purity is hard to believe, that you might want to actually take a sip of it to see if it’s actually freshwater.

2. Accessibility and flights to the Maldives
Male International Airport has 3 different airlines from Singapore Changi Airport – Singapore Airlines, Silk Air and Tiger Air. There is a growth in new airlines linking over to Male the past few years, from Lufthansa, Air Asia and more, making the Maldives even more accessible to all around the world. From the airport, it will be a 20 minutes seaplane ride to W Maldives, or 15 minutes speedboat to Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa.

The Maldivian pilot and crew were really friendly and lovely. Small plane but great service and smiles.
Wellness and Yoga in the Maldives? Why is this a great destination for that?
3. Experience over-water bungalows and private villas

One trademark about the Maldives is to experience staying in an over-water villa, or a villa by the beach to sleep to the sound of the waves at your doorstep. Indeed a beach paradise for many.

Ocean view villa at Sheraton Maldives with your own hammock, deck chairs and private pool overlooking the ocean and crashing waves. Every single unit has a perfect view for perfect sunrises.

4. Maldives Marine life and Water Activities
Everyone who comes to the Maldives must at least partake in some activity that brings you closer to the marine and sea life. Be it snorkelling in the reefs, racing dolphins in the sea, dive with manta rays, the magic of this destination is in being close to the marine and sea.

Going for a morning snorkel around the island. Water so blue and clear it’s unbelievable. Look out for the marine life and trying to spot the resident sea turtle at W Maldives

5. Private Yacht and Private Island Escapade

If you love islands, perhaps you can consider checking out the breathtaking islands of Canada
6. Yoga and a good calm retreat for your senses

With stunning coral-filled waters, fresh sea breeze, beautiful sunrise and sunsets, this is really a top-notch beach paradise destination to recharge your soul and rejuvenate your mind. Definitely, a place that makes even me, a night owl, want to wake up early just to catch the breathtaking sunrise…every day.
With that, I conclude my story about my Maldives Bliss, indeed a dream beach paradise destination for the senses and soul. Come here for a recharge, a break with your loved one or a diving experience with your family and friends!

April 12, 2016 at 1:59 amI was really curious about the Maldives, I have been for a while now. So many people rave about it, but like you it wasn’t really on my list. I just returned from Anguilla which is a gorgeous beach location with crystal clear water and white sand. I was starting to believe that maybe it’s the same – but the Maldives look far more luxurious! Did you have a lot of mosquitos in your room though since you were staying off the water?

April 12, 2016 at 2:55 amHi Francesca,
Yes Maldives is stunning, and definitely luxurious given the remote exclusiveness of the destination, each resort is an island. To answer your qn, no there are no mosquitoes, sand flies and such bugs at the Maldives, which makes it so so awesome.
