‘We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not we are homesick for the places we have never known’ – Carson Mccullers (destinations in Asia worth revisiting)

This post may seem like a queer one as I have never been an advocate for going to a travel destination more than once. The world is so big and there is so much to explore, why come back to the same place?!
But in 2015, my upcoming revisit back to Krabi, and not long back in April – Bali, had got me reconsidering why some places are meant to keep returning.
5 Destinations in Asia worth revisiting
#5 Krabi
For those who do not know more about me, I love rock climbing. And Krabi alongside Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur is the one place many Singaporean climbers flock to for our rock climbing fix.
There is a great mix of outdoor climbing, water activities like kayaking, snorkeling, slacklining, to great local Thai dishes to feast on at night. Its a really great place to chill, take a dip into the warm sea and watch the sunset.
One thing that Krabi as well as places like Halong Bay and Cat Ba in Vietnam is known for is deep water solo and rock climbing routes.

#4 Seoul, South Korea
One of the few countries in Asia which is amazing to visit all year round due to its 4 seasons! A cheaper alternative to Japan ( which can be rather hefty if you aren’t careful), South Korea presents a comparable experience whether you are going there in summer to stroll around sunny Jeju island, or winter skiing/ snowboarding at Yongpyong.

If you are a shopholic or love more city life, then Seoul city is enough to keep you entertained and immersed in for a week.
Not to forget, Seoul city in Korea has mouthwatering authentic local Korean food that suits the extreme palettes of Asians or anyone who loves spice!
#3 Bali, Indonesia
Who can forget Bali – the Zen hideout where Yoga Gurus and Balinese Masseuses flock to to master the art of their craft.
Bali is definitely a hip and trendy location with a good mix of varied eateries, vintage shops and traditional Balinese culture. This is a perfect location for any occasion, from being the best bachelore party destination in Asia to an incredible surf trip or a romantic getaway.

For the adventurous spirit sort, Bali also has awesome diving spots. Go in the correct season and you can find reef sharks and spot the occasional manta ray.

#2 New Zealand
Considered part of the Oceania region of Asia Pacific, this amazing location has so much to offer that it cannot be covered in 1 trip. 2 weeks can only aid you in covering either the north or the south island at ease. Would strongly encourage you to experience at least a small stretch of it in a campervan or the more commonly known term here – RV.
Lastly, the picturesque landscapes just make you keep coming back for the next nature fix, and possibly experience it in a different season as well

Last but not least – #1 Bangkok!
Who can forget the Thai capital – Bangkok! Considered the best, if not one of the best places in Asia for affordable shopping, Bangkok also has one of the highest amount of cheap transit flights going there. Hence, if there is 1 location that keeps shopaholics coming back, its got to be Bangkok.
Find out where are the best hideouts that the locals go to shop. Some of the commonly known are Pratunam or Chatuchak. However, the gorgeous clothes you see up here are spotted at Asiatique the Riverfront.

The local specialty – Beef noodles. I always associate Thailand with this trademark noodle soup dish. And hence conclude my post about the 5 places in Asia to revisit. Do note that these amazing places has so much more beyond what was stated, so go visit them for yourself and you will know what makes these places so nostalgic for a second visit.
5 Destinations in Asia worth revisiting – Find out which are the top 5 cities that are the most popular to return for a 2nd time. Krabi ranked at #5..
