The rock climbing and bouldering movement has begun and has hit Singapore with a storm.
Who would have thought just 9 plus years ago when I picked up this pastime, it was still a rather non-conventional sport in Singapore? It had more restrictions and higher barriers of entry ( most rock climbers seen bouldering in Singapore are teenagers or students who started and picked it up from school days)
However, over time, with greater publicity and awareness about rock climbing and bouldering, it started attracting more working adults, Singaporeans and parents with their kids into the scene, looking for a fun and alternative form of workout beyond the gym/ fitness classes available in the market. Bouldering and climbing gyms in Singapore are getting fancier over time with some of them having incredible facilities like air filters, co-working space options or even cross-fit and yoga classes if you need a bit of a variety.
So here’s the list of 30 Bouldering Gyms present and past that have marked their grounds in Singapore:
Introducing the best bouldering as well as best rock climbing gyms in Singapore in NO ranking order. We as seasoned climbers have visited almost all of it to share our expert opinions and thoughts, but do go through all of it to make a fair assessment of which gym is most suitable base on your climbing ability, comfort level and convenience. Take note that in view of COVID-19, a lot of the gyms now require prior registration online to secure a slot before coming to climb. Walk-ins are a lot harder than before, especially on weekends. So, be warned!
1. Climb Central ( 4 Outlets )
See and be seen. 😉
This gym is in a very public arena located in the heart of Kallang Wave Mall – very conducive for boulderers young and old, beginner and advanced. You will also get a lot of passers-by peering down over the ledges looking at you ‘circus-ing’ around.
A convenient and comfortable gym, the bouldering community is growing here, but do try to avoid the peak hours to have a comfortable time exploring the routes. Get ready to enjoy a good rock climbing workout!
They have opened their 3rd gym in Funan Mall to cater better to the CBD central working crowd and youths better. So if you have always been looking for something central located, this is a good one. Be warned, all their gyms are quite open-spaced, so you need to feel comfortable with the attention.

2. Climbers Brewing?
Previously located in the west all the way at Jurong, a north-eastie like me will be glad to know that the gym has now moved to Woodleigh Park, smack between Potong Pasir and Serangoon Station. Finally a cosy bouldering gym in the northeast part of Singapore!
Drop by here if you want to avoid the hoards of students and family crowd and just do some bouldering, climbing or even just catching up with your climbing buddies and pals.
Climbers Lab | 48 Woodleigh Park Singapore 608586
Also recently relocated to the new base near racecourse road, this all-time favourite bouldering gym has built its reputation over the years to be – where all the hot men are.
Don’t ask me why, but apparently they have been featured in some websites being the top places to hang out to check out cute guys. On a side note, Kinetics also have periodic slasher sales where you can get the best climbing shoes at a really great price. Le Sportiva fans, you gotta stalk their FB page to find out when the next sale is.

Paya Lebar peeps listen up, we can now deliver some parcels and climb some rocks as well;) Boulder World is located in Singpost Centre, just a short walk from the Paya Lebar MRT station, which is a key transit station between the east-west MRT line ( green) and circle MRT line ( orange).
Boulder World Singapore is currently the largest bouldering gym in Singapore and has close to a hundred interesting routes/ problems catering to beginners as well as the hardcore hustlers. Their ”Moonboard” is also a growing attraction and is always in demand.
Boulder World Singapore, SingPost Centre, Enrichment Zone, #01-205
Facing challenges going to the gym to climb?
Why not invest in a good hangboard or fingerboard for training at home?
5. Climbers of Asia – Ground Up
One of the pioneer gyms for bouldering in Singapore, this was one of the 1st gyms I started to do bouldering, and I really like their 2nd-floor design of the gym, like a 2 storey maze and playground. Come here if you want a mix between some top rope/ lead climbing and also bouldering.
They are one of the gyms that have a massive outdoor lead climbing wall, so if you are not into bouldering that day, that is always an option!
Ground Up Climb Asia | 60 Tessensohn Road, c/o CLUB CSC @ TESSENSOHN Singapore 217664
6. Move that BOul-D at Boulder Movement ( 3 outlets)
This fancy bouldering gym is located smack in the heart of CBD, not to mention in the swanky new luxury mall in OUE Downtown. It is a bouldering gym out to compete with the likes of full facility fitness gyms, by providing good showering facilities, towels, climbing shoe storage and even complementing workout regime classes like cross-fit and yoga classes to further. Aiming to position itself better than the rest, they also look into the well-being and health of its members by having world-class air filtration systems in it.
There is plenty of cool quirky shops and hipster coffee cafe in this mall as well, so be prepared by packing your own snacks or getting ready to spend quite a bit of money around the area when you are here.

9. Bouldering in Singapore @ Safra Yishun Gym
Last but not least would be SAFRA Yishun Gym. A tard further to get to given it is situated in the far north, this outdoor rock climbing spot actually also have a really fun bouldering ‘maze’ playground in the centre of its top-rope structure. You can literally boulder your way up 3 storeys if you really want to. I would recommend boulderers to visit this top boulder gym once if you want to have a bit more fun than an intense workout.
As I am really a fan of outdoor climbing, just outside this bouldering gym is the immense rock climbing outdoor wall, 1 building for top rope and the other a few metres away for lead climbing. You can prepare for some unpredictable weather here in Yishun ( very hot or rainy), so don’t forget your sunblock, sunhats or umberallas/ ponchos for your gear.
Yishun Safra | 60 Yishun Avenue 4 Singapore 769027
10. O-Ye-Yo or more known as Oyeyo
Also another cute bouldering gym name, this cosy little ‘monkey’ gym Oyeyo located near Little India MRT station, a few stops away from the city. Its also located very near one of the outdoor climbing shops Campers’ Corner.
This gym is a perfect hangout place to throw aside your work problems and keep you busy with bouldering ‘problems’. Come hang, swing, chill and be pumped with a smile of satisfaction while getting a good rock climbing workout!;)

They have a cool 60-degree overhang bouldering wall with some custom build cool features by the Walltopia brand, the globe’s number 1 leading wall manufacturer. Not to worry if you attempt one of the tough routes, your falls will be cushioned by high-quality bouldering crash pads.
Boulder Plus | The Aperia Mall, 12 Kallang Ave, #03-17, 339511
Fret not westies, their newer and 2nd outlet is located in the west at The Chevrons Boon Lay is raved to be supposedly one of the biggest in Singapore. I have not checked it out myself yet, but do swing by if you do.
Boulder Plus | The Chevrons, 48 Boon Lay Way #04-01, Singapore 609961
12. T-Hall Singapore Climbing Gym
Opening in 2019, this gym located at North Bridge Road near ICA is the number 15 bouldering gym in Singapore! Something a bit more central finally.
T-Hall | Address: 464 Crawford Ln, Singapore 190464
13. Get Fit at FitBloc
Located in Science Park, this bouldering gym located in the west makes it perfect for westies who find it a challenge to travel all the way to the main majority of gyms in the East.
This Boulders Gym in Singapore has special facilities linked to their building like a nice lap pool and co-working space. This is really cool for a digital nomad like me who works off my laptop yet want to squeeze in some climbing. Not many climbing gyms can proudly say they have a co-working space in the same premise.
Fit Bloc Boulders Gym | 87 Science Park Dr, #03-02 The Oasis, Singapore 118260
14. UpWall Climbing
Remember the old Ferris wheel over in Downtown East?
Well, that is long gone and the pretty space by the glass front of the mall is now taken over by the new climbing gym called Upwall.
16 top rope lanes with 10 auto-belay routes and 8 lead climbing lanes for the more advanced level climbers. Bouldering can be done shared with the lead climbing lanes, with a thick crash pad set up below it.
Opened during the COVID19 pandemic in 2020, this air condition carpeted gym is really cosy and comfortable without the crazy crowds like some of the other more popular climbing and bouldering gyms located more centrally, where you need to camp on their online pages to secure a slot.
We managed to visit this climbing gym in the far east with a few last-minute walk-ins by our extended family who decided to join. The space is quite friendly for younger kids and toddlers too. There are nice soft white lining seats against the wall that the kids can chill there while their parents climb.
Some downsides though, the gym caters a bit more to top ropers as compared to boulderers, so there isn’t a designated area for you to boulder and do exciting overhangs. Also, prepare for a bit of a nosy crowd of families and kids watching you if you climb on the part that is against the railings of the mall.
UpWall Climbing Gym | 1 Pasir Ris Close, E!Hub@Downtown East, #01-105, 519599
15. BFF Climb
I found out about BFF over dinner with a boulderer recently, and I was amazed that they already had 2 outlets despite only opening in 2021.
One cool thing about BFF is beside the Boulder Zone, there is the Play zone which is the fun element of it. Kids of all ages can come over and get enthralled by all the little obstacle courses, AR Wall, foam pit and maze. If I were much younger, this would have been something that would strongly appeal to a toddler or kid in us. Another programme they offer is Camps, which sounds heaps of fun. Too bad it probably does not involve sleeping overnight on a portaledge on the wall.
So do swing by and check them out, there are 2 outlets in Singapore depending if you are more of an eastie or westie.
BFF Bendemeer | CT Hub, 2 Kallang Avenue , #01-20 Singapore 339407
BFF Bukit Timah | Link@896, 896 Dunearn Road, 02-01D Singapore 589472
16. Boulder Planet
For the north folks, finally here comes a gym that is situated near you. Boulder Planet is located at Sembawang shopping centre and has a fancy edgy space which is a mix of bouldering and social space.
I love that they are all about sustainability and they even have a policy of not advocating and distributing single-use plastic on their premise. FINALLY, a gym that takes this seriously. We have yet to pay them a visit yet but I do hope they also have recycling bins and they do encourage their users to do proper sorting. Singapore needs to buck up in terms of implementing more initiatives to make a more sustainable lifestyle.
So pardon the distraction, do check them out at Sembawang Shopping Centre at Basement 1.
Boulder Planet | SEMBAWANG SHOPPING CENTRE, 604 SEMBAWANG ROAD, #B1- 22/23, SINGAPORE 758459

18. Boruda Climbing
Last but not least, we have another Bouldering Gym called Boruda Climbing. Its a concept gym that weaved in some Japanese inspired climbing set up for those who would love to know better the roots of the Japanese climbing scene. Located near West Coast highway, its a great location for westies or students who study in this area ( heaps of universities and polytechnics closer to this zone)
Boruda Climbing | 991A Alexandra Road, #02-06/07 (S)119969
Gorilla Climbing Gym Singapore
– CLOSED DOWN 🙁
Love the name of this gym, definitely lives up to the ‘ape’ like behaviour of us boulderers swinging around on the walls.
Gorilla Climbing Gym had its official opening in the month of Aug 2017 and are welcoming easties and all families and friends to visit its spanking new premise in Chai Chee. One thing I really like about the gym is, it is all white and air-conditioned! Located right next to the flagship Decathlon outlet, it is slowly converting itself into a one-stop adventure hub to climb and shop all in 1 trip.
One more bonus: It has a climbing shop as well if you are looking for great climbing gifts for your boulderers friends, alternatively one can also invest on your first set of climbing gear buying it online on Amazon.
Gorilla Climbing Gym | 750B Chai Chee Road, #01-02 Viva Business Park
Sighted at Onsight Climbing Gym
Competitive level standards? This gym has always been regarded as one of the top boulder gyms with the toughest routes. You can see some crazy action going on here with some flying ‘monkey’ boulderers occasionally. And just next door would be some flying monkeys jumping on trampolines and ropes. Really quite a sight at onsight.
Till this day, this is one of my favourite gyms to climb at, not just because my friends love to climb here, its located near the circle line, but the fact that there is super delicious food at the nearby old airport road food court! The thought of prawn noodles and char kway teow is making me hungry already!
Onsight Climbing Gym | 100 Guillemard Road Singapore 399718
(Unfortunately, Onsight climbing gym’s last day of operations is end of December 2020.
Upside Boulders – The Promenade @ Pelikat
– CLOSED DOWN 🙁
There is now a boulder gym within 10 minutes walk from my house! For northeasterners who stay in Serangoon, Lorong Chuan, Kovan, Hougang, Sengkang etc, this will be THE GYM to visit. The Promenade @ Pelikat is a small little mall that just opened, and I really hope to visit this gym soon.
Its a cycling distance from Kovan mrt or Serangoon NEX mall. The area is very peaceful as it is situated in the middle of the private housing and residential public parks.
So hence conclude my post about the list of 30 top boulder gym in Singapore, present and past.
